"Swanning Around Selby" Booklet

Posted on 30 April 2014 by David Moss

Get ready for our "Swanning Around Selby" booklet. Currently under development by the Society, this will be a replacement and expansion of the Society's "Guide to Selby" pamphlet.

Providing the walker or "armchair walker" with information about key places, events and people that have contributed to Selby's rich history and heritage, its six themed, self-guided walks, of between 3/4 mile and 3 miles long, will lead the walker to approximately sixty "stations" of historical significance to the town. You will discover information on the places, buildings and people that have featured in its history over the last 950 years. Furthermore, for those who want to delve deeper, hyperlinks, or QR links for smartphone users, will allow you to access much more information about twenty of the main sites.

With text and illustrations by David Lewis and other Society members, this project has had generous financial assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund . Completion is scheduled for the summer of 2014.
