Guided tour of Snaith Priory and Lock-Ups

Event Date: April 23, 2015 Location: Snaith Priory

Selby Civic Society has organised a self drive evening visit to Snaith. Ron Christian will lead members and guests on a guided tour of the Priory and the nearby Lock-Ups.

Meet at 7.00 pm at the Priory. There is parking nearby.

The Priory dominates the town. It began life as a daughter church of Selby Abbey. Parts date back to the 11th Century but it contains examples of many architectural periods.

The Grade II Lock-Ups were probably cells for drunks on Market Days, but there are many other theories.
