“NO KING; NO CROWN; NO CAR PARK!

THE STRANGE CASE OF CROMWELL’S HEAD”

An illustrated talk by Russell Marwood, York Archaeological Trust’s Battlefields Officer

At 7.30pm on Thursday 17th September in Portholme Church, Portholme Road, Selby

Oliver Cromwell’s role in English history is well known. In life, as a Yeoman farmer, soldier or Lord Protector, he was a strong-willed person, always in control. In death he sought peace but he, or at least part of him, was not to rest for over 300 years.

Russell will tell the strange tale of one man’s head from cradle to grave and its amazing journey from his shoulders to……… who knows where!
