Photographic survey of Selby's Conservation Areas

Posted on 10 July 2017 by David Moss

2017 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Civic Amenities Act 1967 which led to the inception of Conservation Areas in 1967. So a project based around Selby’s Conservation Areas is relevant and fits with Civic Voice’s “Big Conservation Conversation” campaign announced for 2017 - see http://www.civicvoice.org.uk/campaigns/the-big-conservation-conversation

Selby has four Conservation Areas:

Selby Conservation Area
Brook Street and Armoury Road Conservation Area
Millgate Conservation Area
Leeds Road Conservation Area

What’s proposed?

Society members will make a digital photographic record of selected streets in the four Conservation Areas to provide a "snapshot" of what the Conservation Areas were like in 2017.

We plan to collate the images and document them as an archive of photographs that we hope will be of interest to present and future residents of the town. A display of these will be organised when the project is completed – probably in late 2017/early 2018.
